Notice the tension and stay with it

On New Year’s Day 2026, I asked cards to give me some advice for now.
I pulled Justice, The Moon, and Two of Swords reversed.

Right away, I noticed Justice and the Two of Swords both hold swords.
They are both indications of mental function.
But they wield their swords differently:
Justice holds her sword upright in the right hand. She’s open, willing to face the world and the consequences of truth. At the same time, behind her, the background is shielded by a cloth – she’s separating her mind from her heart to stay neutral and unbiased.
Two of Swords crosses her arms, as if she’s guarding and shielding herself with the two swords in her hands. There’s water in the background, symbolising emotions and feelings. She’s protecting her heart by keeping options open, undecided to maintain peace.

Justice says: “I need to do what’s right. Even if it means I don’t listen to my heart.”
Two of Swords says: “I need to protect my peace. Even if it means I stay blindfolded to my feelings and in the limbo of indecision.”

Between them is the Moon.
The moon is not a straightforward card at all in tarot.
It is longing, uncertainty, the strange emotions that you sense but can’t name.
Tarot gave me a solution that doesn’t resolve.

The Moon isn’t asking to choose between the two voices.
It sits in the middle because it’s asking the mind to listen:
Justice alone can become too rigid or over-moralized.
Forcing a decision from Two of Swords can be reactive or self-preserving.
Moon offers the third option: presence without premature certainty.

Notice how the two dogs are barking at a moon with eyes closed. It intrigued me.
Normally, when I pull the Moon card, I’m paying more attention to the dogs or the crawfish from the water.
But today, I was stuck with the moon and the closed eyes.
Then it came to me.

Moon is listening.

Opening my eyes too fast can actually pull me back into sword-energy: analysis, judgment, decision pressure.
The Moon is not asking me to see more or decide faster.
Instead, it asks:
“Can you let both sides speak without resolving them immediately?”

Rather than “Do the right thing”, or “Protect yourself”.
The message here is to not resolve the inner conflict.
Either by silencing or giving in to one side or the other.
But observing, listening.
Understand both sides are valid guardians of my truth.

I don’t have to force clarity or resolve the tension.
Stay with the strange feelings and emotions.
Don’t try to solve the puzzle.
Allow ambiguity.

Let life be a dream.

Stay in the twilight of uncertainty.
